Iconic set of matching Jason chairs designed by Carl Jacobs for Kandya. The seats have been professionally re-lacquered in a 10% Black satin finish to a high standard whilst sill showing off their beechwood grain and texture. Original screws connect them to the frame with gently tapering splayed Beach wooden legs that are typical of Danish design of the period.Lightweight stackable. The Jason chair was designed by the Danish designer Carl Jacobs but was manufactured by Kandya, a British firm. The seat and back of the chair are folded from a 5 ply flexible plywood that wraps around the chair and joins below in a jigsaw puzzle type connection. In 1952 three hundred were installed in the South Bank Restaurant on the site of the Festival of Britain. We have purposely left the frames untouched to show their age, the ply seats are in superb condition. These Carl Jacob chairs are also part of the V&A collection.
